About Lapis Lazuli

  • Lapis Lazuli has been used throughout history: it is present in Tutankhamen’s death mask and is the incredible blue in the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

  • The brighter the colour, the more prized the stone. Lapis Lazuli was crushed to make the pigment known as ultramarine.

  • Lapis Lazuli was a stone of royalty - it was believed to be a source of untapped power which could be accessed through deep meditation.
